The Camel’s Nose

The Federal Government continues to grow exponentially. Founders established a republic to keep power from consolidating in the hands of a few yet, over time, we citizens have allowed it to happen. Under the guise of “we’re here to help you”, politicians have amassed $26,000,000,000,000 of debt and $100,000,000,000,000 plus in promises to we citizens and others. Looking at how that money was spent can be viewed as a slow takeover of our lives. From sustenance, shelter, education to retirement, there are programs that take our labor and redistribute it as politicians see fit. Next up for control is our body.

The canard of Obamacare and “Medicare for All” is that private health care will continue to prosper. Obamacare only served to prove that false. It was only because of the plank in the law that made whole private insurers who lost money providing Obamacare, that these companies still exist. That is why the statement that private insurance is not on the block is a lie.

Put up against an entity that doesn’t have costs to consider, no private company can survive.  Obamacare offered Cadillac coverage for Kia prices. It can only do that because they can run up more debt and increase taxes to pay for it. Medicare for All or even an expansion of that program will do the same. As Joe said in the second debate, people can choose Medicare or their private plan. Well if Medicare is priced below costs and thus, well below private market, how long before consumers move to a less expensive but expansive coverage? What happens to the private companies? They eventually go out of business. But hey, you can choose….until you can’t!

Health care has been one of the last vestiges of personal freedom. We can choose to live healthy lifestyles or not. Efforts to force us to act according to political dictates have had limited success. Banning of large fountain drinks, foie gras and other “bad” stuff have found resistance. With the attempt to provide government sponsored health care, that door will be blown open. The argument will be that in order to contain expanding costs, controls that include what you can eat and drink, how you exercise, what drugs you must and must not take will be mandated. Don’t think so? Ask tobacco companies.

Freedom is on the line. Health care/Obamacare is just another camel’s nose in the tent.
