Now We See Who Is Running the Federal Government

5/2/24

I wrote several years ago on my observations at my son’s Harvard graduation. What I saw then was the two largest departments receiving diplomas were Public Policy, and Law. Consider that between Harvard and Yale, a disproportionate number of our federal bureaucracy personnel comes from these two institutions. They have been stocking our federal government for decades and we are reaping the “benefits” of that inculcating now.

At that ceremony, Angela Merkel was the commencement speaker. She regaled the audience by denigrating our then President Trump. With thunderous applause and standing ovations, the audience made clear their political chops. These people, and the thousands that went before them, control the federal government. For those of you who think its our elected officials, want to buy the Brooklyn bridge?

The actions of students and their agitators that started in the Ivy League schools over the past week should make the case abundantly clear that we must take control of government and not it of us. The inmates running the asylum is so appropriate as it applies to both the universities, some businesses and clearly, the federal government. These rich white kids have been spoon fed the travails of the big bad USA while enjoying the vast fruits of it.  They think, no, they know, they know best. Never having to worry about where their next meal will come from makes it easy to pontificate about this or that fad issue of the day. Oh how empathetic they all are as they run home to moms and dads that have coddled them their entire lives. It won’t be long before they turn on them too in true Maoist fashion.

President Trump has raised the “swamp” issue and as a result, the swamp is fighting back to the death. From the beginning, they saw his incursion into their control of our lives as a threat to their hold on power and rightly so. His mentioning the power the public employee labor unions and civil service have over personnel practices only heightened their paranoia of a second term. Hence, the scorched earth efforts to derail his candidacy.

Regardless of who gets elected, these indoctrinated people will remain at the helm of the execution of policies that they interpret absent of clearly spelled out laws. Regulation, not law, are the deciding factors in how we live our lives. More attention must be drawn to those who actually run our government.

Hard to Read

4/27/24

I get a couple of newspapers delivered daily and read a couple more on line. I’ve learned over time which authors of the articles are hacks simply spouting their ideological underpinnings and those who are in fact, journalists. Despite its lofty reputation, the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) employs both versions. One expects the New York Times and the Washington Post to simply carry the water for lefty propaganda but you don’t expect it from the “journal”. Today’s is one of the most glaring examples of kindergarten reporting. Somebody said something.

Front page headline and lead story: “Trump Allies Draw Up Plans To Blunt Fed’s Independence” written by Andrew Restuccia, Nick Timiraos and Alex Leary. In it they say there is a draft document that outlines how Trump will try to replace Powell, oversee and/or attempt to actually set interest rates. Pretty powerful stuff here so you would think they have the story locked down with multiple sources and perhaps even a copy of the “draft” but what you get is “people said”. Not one name nor even an anonymous source. No document or quote from anyone other than this from the Trump campaign in the 5th paragraph. Trump Senior Advisers said if it doesn’t come directly from Trump  or the campaign, it isn’t official. No follow up on whether the story is true or not. Whether they even asked about the “draft” NADA.

The remainder of the article goes on to cite the problems that could arise from a President controlling the Fed. It interviews members of Congress that of course are against such a move casting the former President in a bad light for even having thought of it, if in fact he is!

While the WSJ editorial board is reasonably conservative, it is no fan of Trump. “Deranged Trump Syndrome” does exist in its “news” room and is on full display by the likes of Restuccia, Siobhan Hughes and others daily in the “news” section of this paper. Its high time we call to account those who are supposed to be telling us unvarnished facts when labeled as “news” and save the postulating for dinner conversations amongst their friends. If you want to interpret those facts, put it on the “analysis” page, or criticize something, write an editorial, but don’t try to tell us you’re a journalist when you ply such totally unsubstantiated pablum for your lefty readers. Where is the adult Editor? Cowering in the corner office hoping the “inmates” don’t call for his head. Indeed, there was an uprising in 2020 when the “newsroom” castigated the opinion writers for not fact-checking something. How rich is that?

Persuasion Versus Coercion

3/19/24

The Supreme Court is weighing whether or not the state crossed a line when it interacted with major communication entities on information they published that did not comport with their messaging. It appears the line the Court is trying to establish is when is it OK for the state to contact communication companies and seek to alter what it is they are publishing. On its face, this is the wrong question on a very clear question of constitutionality.

The state in its current form is all too powerful and vexing for any person or commercial entity to take on. That is, by virtue of their entering into ANY interaction with a person or company, they intimidate at the outset based on that power. One only needs to feel the hairs on their arm go up when pulled over by a policeman to understand the feeling when a government official confronts you. No company can stand up against a government when it determined to have its way. Its impractical for any request by the state to not be perceived as threatening.

Indeed, we are finding many instances of where persons or companies have tried to resist or otherwise come up against the powers of the state. They found themselves arrested on trumped up charges on arcane laws, their requests for services slow walked or outright denial of the permits and other items necessary to conduct business. Against this backdrop, companies contacted by the state to alter, delete or include things find themselves in a quandary. If they agree to the request, are they bowing down and submitting themselves to serfdom? If they don’t agree, will there be all kinds of retribution?

The question is not when is the state allowed to interact with those communicating but IF they should ever request alteration of any public communication. For me, that answer is NEVER.

I understand that there have been times when publicly announcing items could have had negative impacts on our national security. In those cases, the information should have never left the source in the first place. Any legitimate and ethical journalist, should have the good sense to put a lid on the story until such time as it can be revealed. That is the job of the journalist, not the state. Misinformation, disinformation or any of the other terms you care to put on information, must be dealt with through additional information, not suppression. If the information is false, let those holding that position publish countering information and let the debate begin!

Yeah, …right.

2/23/24

President Biden is up to the tasks required of the President of the United States.

The border is secured.

There was no substantial fraud in the 2020 federal election.

The government did not suppress news during the Covid pandemic.

Hunter Biden’s laptop release was Russia’s election interfering. The 51 intelligence officers were right.

Current inflation is a result of Trump’s tax cuts, Russian invasion of Ukraine and corporate greed and not because of the trillions of cash that was ladled into the economy when there was a drastic reduction in supplies of goods and services.

The current runup in the stock market is not the result of all that cash still being spent.

Our educational system beginning in K – higher institutions is getting persons ready for the 21st century and beyond.

Disinformation and misinformation can only be scuttled through censorship run by the state.

Marxists are not behind the Black Lives Matter organization.

Public unions are there to serve the public through serving their members.

Karine Jeanne-Pierre is at her best in her daily press briefings.  (This may be true. Now that’s scary!)

The New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Chicago Tribune are all bastions of legitimate journalism.

The Chicago Blackhawks are the best team in the NHL.

The Almighty Dollar

2/14/24

We are the leader of the free world because of one thing, the dollar. Commerce and all the goods and services that go with it revolve around using the dollar as a vehicle for transactions. The dollar’s strength is based solely on one thing, the rule of law. That is, if you have your money parked here in the USA in dollars, you have laws that protect that money from being purloined. It is the reason sovereignty funds from even our adversaries are parked here. They know they can get them when they want and are protected while they are here. Evidence the return of $6 billion of Iran’s money to them through Qatar.

Unfortunately, our rule of law is crumbling right before our eyes. Starting with a compromised President who continues to lie about his involvement with business deals involving our adversaries, cabinet members ignoring federal laws regarding immigration, and the use of government agencies to bring charges on flimsy bases. In this chaos a growing concern causes others to begin to prepare for a new means of securing their ability to do business; enter BRICS.

Russia, shunned from the G7, took their ball and started gathering others who see us as declining. They include, Brazil, India, China and now South Africa. China is keen to replace the dollar as the world’s means of transacting business and has already insisted on paying for its oil imports from Russia and Iran in yuan. As China is wont to do, they will flex their economic power by insisting others begin to pay them in yuan replacing dollar reserves with their currency.

Adding to the geopolitical maneuvers is our own folly of deficit spending that is so out of control, even Democrats are talking about capping spending. As a debtor nation with a lowered bond rating, the cost of printing money goes well beyond internal inflation. It exposes us to economic and even physical harm. Those that hold our debt can stop buying it or insist on even higher terms (interest). Our inability to arrest the growth in our debt will exacerbate the move from productive spending to mere interest payments. First to go will be guns but make no mistake, its butter after that and that is when the rule of law will come under its most difficult stress.

We must reassert that laws are to be followed in every instance. They must be applied equally as justice is blind to other tertiary issues. We must honor our obligations at every turn not just because it is right, but because our very position in the world depends on it. It all comes down to how well we manage the reality of the US being the safest harbor for the world’s wealth. Long Live the almighty dollar.

Awards gone Awry

1/29/24

I used to look forward to the Grammy award ceremony. The Oscars too. As is the case with nearly all artsy awards, they have lost their luster as the Marxists have infiltrated our media and captured the recognition process. The thought of watching an obese woman twerking to a foul mouthed song, doesn’t entice me. It’s not only entertainment that has adulterated the award for excellence process. The Pulitzer awarded the NY Times and Washington Post for their coverage of the “Russian collusion” in 2016. Having not learned their lesson, they gave Caitlan Dickerson of the Atlantic the 2023 prize for deftly excluding any reference to Obama while castigating Trump for “separation of children from their parents” at the border. Nobel gave Obama the Peace prize as he stepped into office and recently, the literature prize to Toni Morrison for “The Bluest Eyes”. Deep stuff there! Publishing is dominated by Marxists who see the LGBTQ+ issue as a great wedge that needs to be driven at every turn. Their selection of “National Book of the Year” (“Last Night at the Telegraph Club” – Malinda Lo) follows their campaign to indoctrinate youths with gender obfuscation.

The lie that these are these products are the “very best” is being foisted on us. Trust in our 4th estate is at all-time lows. Thank goodness there are sufficient observers who get the fallacy and are turning off any attention to the farce. Unfortunately, there are substantial numbers of people who are blind to the propaganda and think they are in the majority when they “get” the reason for the recognition.

Normalizing things that are not normal does no one good. Awarding abhorrent behavior only serves up more abhorrent behavior.  One can hope that there will be an awakening by those being recognized that they are merely patting them on their backs.

Biden Substitute Wins the Whitehouse

1/17/24

That will be the headline on November 6th, 2024. Ignore the obvious that the Democrats will not allow Trump to take back the Whitehouse. They will cheat their way to assure that won’t happen if necessary, however that is plan B. Their first priority is to get things lined up for a summer recasting of the entire election; its candidates and issues.

Biden will not be the nominee nor will Harris. Biden will have stepped down just prior to the Democratic convention for “medical reasons” throwing open the convention to nominate a new candidate. Harris will garner a smattering of delegate votes leaving the Democrats to pick either Newsom or Whitmer, their only two relevant substitutes. (How’s that for a deep bench!)

Either can win by hammering home the abortion issue, danger to democracy and “bad Trump”. They should also have the wind at their back as  immigration counts drop dramatically from this administration’s soon to happen, about face on Trump era controls. Add their campaign rhetoric cherry picked data on a recovering economy that will be propelled further by the politicized Fed’s rate cuts and you can see a clear path to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

With a derelict opposition party, this scenario is all too possible. The republican party has been following a strategy of appeasement for so many election cycles that it is hard to believe we really have two parties. Rather than “speak the truth”, co-opting one former candidate’s slogan, they hide behind “we’re in the minority and have to capitulate compromise”. Citizens are ripe for being told the many benefits of capitalism, that children are the singular responsibility of parents, the need for more discussion and not more censorship, that prudent steps are needed to prevent fraud in our elections, that our fiscal house is crumbling and yes, entitlements will have to be reined in, and finally, in the end, you have to make your own relationship with God on the issue of abortion.

Even the simple blocking and tackling of elections is lost on this moribund party. The RNC repeatedly mailed me solicitations for money with laughable surveys inserted yet never called to make sure I was going to vote. I would gladly put a lawn sign, man a phone bank or do other volunteer activities but again, never asked nor given an avenue to offer. With union organizations and myriad of other groups aligned with the Democrats, these are the kind of basics a party must have organized. Don’t even get me started on social media, fund raising. Anyone heard of “Win Red”?

Let’s hope I’m all wet. I would love to be wrong on who will move in to the Whitehouse in 2025.

OK, If I was President…

1/15/24

There would be four federal holidays.

  1. Great Americans Day – Last Monday of February – Honor whomever you choose. Past or present presidents, historical figures, former or current criminals, etc. No judgement, just watch how any tax dollars are spent.
  2. Memorial Day – Last Monday in May – A day we don’t celebrate but take note of the sacrifices that allow us to live the life of Riley.
  3. Fourth of July – 7/4 – The most significant day in the history of the world; not just hyperbole. A system of governance where the people hold the power…if they can keep it.
  4. Thanksgiving – Fourth Thursday of November – A day when all Americans give thanks for the gifts our creator bestowed upon this great country.

I’m Running for President of the US

1/11/24

I’m announcing my candidacy for the President of the United States of America under the banner of the Smellbad Party. In this official capacity, I’m demanding the states recognize the party and my candidacy by placing my name and party affiliation on the primary ballots now being readied for the upcoming primary elections.

Crazy? You bet. You see, the two parties have effectively boxed out any real attempts at usurping their hold over our elections and hence, control over our lives. Add how primaries are paid for and conducted under the heading “How Political Parties Decide Election Outcomes”.

Unable to control themselves of all kinds of skullduggery, around the turn of the 20th century, parties turned to their own in the state legislatures to one, use taxpayer money to pay for primary elections and two, keep themselves from cheating. Those nefarious actions included paying delegates for their vote and packing electors with unaffiliated voters. The party’s biggest fear was lacking a consensus candidate, those disenfranchised by the primary outcome, would choose to go rogue and challenge the selected candidate in the general election. A split vote would likely give the office to the opponent party’s candidate. We can’t have that so, let’s make sure we get one guy/gal to be our guy/gal.

The primary process only adds to the barriers of entrance for those seeking public office. Getting a number of signatures to first “prove” you are “viable”. Filing by certain time and paying fees, applying for taxpayer funding are just a few of the impediments to becoming a candidate. Foremost is the “support” of the party. President Washington knew only too well that the rise of political parties would lead to divisiveness and their singular goal of winning control would crowd out serving citizens.

So now we have political parties who have to win as to justify their existence, selecting who gets on a primary ballot. They throw us a bone by allowing us to vote for those they’ve selected giving us the feeling that we are in control. And the best part is we get to pay for this abuse. Primaries cost hundreds of millions, Money that the parties used to spend but now is on our backs.

And now you have a little more understanding of how we can end up with two past their prime candidates likely to be our “choices” for leader of the free world.

The RNC Bumbling Continues

11/2/23

What level of proficiency would you apply to the Republican National Committee? This is the party that despite the collapsing of our economy and usurping of our freedoms, lost control of one house and barely won the other in an off-year election that historically tilts to the opposition. This is the party that has yet to convince minorities that they have their best interest at heart versus the Democrats. Despite the lack of progress and in fact regression of living standards in urban areas, the RNC has yet to capture the minds and hearts of people of color. A Democratic party whose policies  have forfeited our economic and hence, physical security, the single articulated role in our country’s foundation, the Constitution.

The latest example is how they are pandering to the Muslim community. Are you kidding me that Republicans can’t counter the Democrats? It’s the Democrats that foster drag queens in our libraries and promote parents aren’t to be informed of their child’s flirting with abnormal behaviors. These are critical issues for people of faith. Family oriented cultures like Hispanics and Muslims must be educated on just which party stands with those values but where are the Republicans?

The simple principles of our Constitution reside in republican polices. Americans, including those who choose to be one, have to be told who stands up for the very things they came to this country to realize. Its not for the handouts. Most immigrants know only too well that government is not where you want to place your well-being. They came here to be free to prosper. High taxes, restrictive rules and over bearing attempts to control are an anathema to not only them but all of us. Yet, where is the staunch defense of a society where you can keep more of what you sow and pursue anything you want that doesn’t harm another?

We’re on the precipice of turning our country into a Marxist state. Ask any Chinese person who lived through Mao’s tenure. It happened so quickly that no one was able to stem the tide. Once it began, it cascaded into the “Cultural Revolution” where children turned on their parents and grandparents. Anyone had a conversation with their college student child lately?

The recipe for putting us back on track as the “shining city upon the hill” is there for the baking.

Lower taxes results in lower spending results in fewer rules and regulations that leads to less power in DC (and locally too) over our lives. With cultural issues, each person has to live their life according to their principles. The state needs to stay out of those issues where individual rights don’t infringe on another’s. The single purpose of the federal government is to preserve and protect the union and the closer we get to that constitutional dictate, the better our country and we citizens, all of us citizens, will be.
