Will the Next Election be our Last?

Both sides are setting we peons up for a cataclysmic election outcome. The rhetoric is reminiscent of that used by the Bolsheviks, Che Guevara/Fidel Castro, and Mao Tse Tung and it’s coming out of the mouths of our “leaders”. It’s clear that mail voting is necessary given the pandemic. What is not clear is how to conduct it without both sides either subverting its validity either in reality or through how it is cast.

The mechanics of voting through the mail are established in several states. That is, ballots are requested, mailed to the person with sufficient time for them to be received, completed, returned, and counted in the final totals. More states do not have the timeframes established nor the processes necessary to ensure that ballots will go to the actual voter, be collected, and counted in time for elections results mandated by the Constitution. Furthering the angst is the political machinations of how the votes are collected; USPS or harvesters.

States that are mailing ballots willy-nilly are playing into the fright night. No one will accept the results if they lose. Either the ballots got lost, weren’t counted, or didn’t make it to the voters in time. Fill in the blank list of grievances that will cause great, dare I say, bloody results. When Democrats call conservatives, “enemies of the people” and Republicans call lefties thieves working to steal the election, we are one flash point from true revolution. Given the antics of Portland and other cities, we are at the precipice of a frightening possibility. That gun purchases continue to climb should give pause to every person.

Our so-called leaders are doing nothing to tramp down the possibility and instead are fomenting it. Their insatiable thirst for power yields them blind to the possibility that they will not have anything to lead if things go off the rail. Can’t happen? History is strewn with societies that collapsed in a matter of days. We are witnessing it with Hong Kong as I write. Don’t fool yourself. Demand our leaders take the required steps to assure a fair and honest election and honor its results.
